racing home for Punky

birthday shopping sprees

The SUNCHICKEN

brainfreezes and skip-its

orange groves

hair-dye

dreams

books and stairwells

salt and sand

friends and first loves

hope and blonde pigtails

  1. Your opening line hooked me–I’d forgotten all about light as a feather, stiff as a board. It was standard slumber party fare when I grew up! Your poem has a fun and refreshing tone.
